It’s taken me a lot of trial and error to find the right plants to help soothe my inevitable fussy skin and razor-burn. There are so many great plants that are used to help nourish the skin, but after many tries at various plants, the ones that helped me the most are the “weeds” that grew in my back yard!
Yarrow, Comfrey and Plantain grow here in Ohio. Comfrey and plantain both contain allantoin, a compound that can help to soften the skin, can soothe irritation and can aid in the shedding of dead skin cells. It's also used in wound care for minor scrapes or burns! Yarrow is a hemostatic, which means it can help stop bleeding. Calendula blossoms are full of antioxidant and can help ward off bacteria while stimulating collagen production! They’re also so darn pretty.
